Cashner's journey began when he purchased Montgomery County's only cemetery on Porter Road – Conroe Memorial Park. His many years of cemetery experience, coupled with honest, fair and compassionate business practices, helped Cashner gain the community respect needed for steady growth. By the early 80's Cashner's deep commitment and personal involvement in the community helped him successfully build a funeral home on the grounds of his second cemetery, Garden Park Cemetery, now known as Cashner Funeral Home & Cemeteries.

During the next two decades, the Cashner family joined in affiliation with The Loewen Group and soon unveiled Montgomery County's first Chapel Mausoleum, Chapel in the Park. They then built the above ground mausoleums, "Praying Hands Mausoleum" and "Mausoleum of the Cross", continuing their solid commitment to the community by providing complete funeral services for all families, regardless of their ability to pay.
